21st April 2020 – Japanese

I finished reading Chocho Senkyo, so now I have read the whole series about the crazy psychiatrist and his nurse by Okuda Hideo. I enjoyed the series – it made a change from the dark 1960s murder mysteries I usually read. I do my Japanese reading before I go to bed, but for a while I might read some English books. Reading in English, my target language, is also important for translation.

Total reading time: 30 minutes

21st April 2020 – French

My French exam in June has been cancelled. Now I don’t know what to do. Do I continue to study for the level 3 test and take that in November? Or do I aim for the pre-level 2 test? My original plan was to get level 3 in June and take pre-level 2 in November, but my study is going slower than I had hoped. Maybe I’ll just take my time and aim for level 3 in November. Actually, I haven’t started on the test material books, so…

Today, I did a few minutes of Duolingo, and did the verb + infinitive construction in the affirmative and negative. I then copied out five pages of my test vocabulary dictionary.

Total study time: 55 minutes – Duolingo: 10 minutes, grammar: 30 minutes, vocabulary: 15 minutes

21st April 2020 – Chinese

I need to work on my test vocabulary, so I spent my study session working through my vocabulary book. The vocabulary in the book goes up to level 4, but I just studied the vocabulary for levels 1, 2 and 3.

If my test in June is cancelled, I might start studying for level 4. I bought three new books for the level 4 test, so when I’ve finished my vocabulary book I think I’ll start on the level 4 books. One of them reviews the basics, so it won’t do my level 3 study any harm.

Total study time: 45 minutes – Vocabulary: 45 minutes
