30th March 2020 – French

I’m not enjoying studying French lately. I am moving too quickly. I can’t keep up with my textbook and feel like I’m floundering around. There is no way I can do the exercises – they are too difficult. I need more exposure to each grammar point. I’m doing the past tense with direct and indirect objects, and don’t really understand what’s written in my book. I’m nearly at the end of the textbook though, so I’ll keep pushing through until I get to the end, and then get some more study material. I also studied sports/pastime-related vocabulary. That was a lot easier.

Total study time: 30 minutes – grammar: 20 minutes, vocabulary: 10 minutes

29th March 2020 – French

I did the passe compose with object pronouns and agreement of object pronouns with the past participle. Well, when I say I “did” them, it means I read the explanations and copied the answers to the exercises from the back of the textbook. I’m feeling quite lost. I stopped before the section on passe compose of pronominal verbs and copied out 5 pages of vocab from my test dictionary.

Total study time: 45 minutes – Grammar: 25 minutes, vocabulary: 20 minutes

29th March 2020 – Chinese

I had a Chinese lesson today. We studied the exercises in my conversation book from the unit about expressing pity or regret. Before I went to the lesson I did a bit of preparation time, but should have done more, because I couldn’t answer the questions without looking back at the vocabulary.

Total study time: 45 minutes – Preparation: 15 minutes, lesson: 30 minutes

27th March 2020 – French

I felt like I needed a break from grammar, so I copied out a few pages of my test vocabulary dictionary. I was pleased to see some past tense sentences, which I have just learnt. It was good reinforcement. I then did some reading aloud from my read aloud French book. I did the first three units. The units are short, quick and easy.
