I continued reading the Matsumoto Seicho novel. I read around 35 pages before I fell asleep. A practice test book for the cosmetics exam came, but I’m going to wait until April to study it. The exam is in May, so I’m going to read novels until April, and from April concentrate on reviewing for the skincare and cosmetics exams.
I put my confusion about prepositions to one side and studied the verb “faire”. It seems to be used in a lot of expressions, so it’s an important one. The exercises were fairly straightforward, the difficult thing will be remembering all the phrases which use it. I guess this will come naturally with reading and more reading, and listening and more listening, rather than sitting down and trying to memorize everything in the textbook by rote.
I also did some shadowing with Easy French Reader. I did the first passage about Marc and Julie. After shadowing around 10 times I could read along with the audio, so I was quite pleased about that. I think this book is going to be useful for listening and speaking as much as reading.
Total study time: 1 hour – 40 minutes grammar, 20 minutes reading/shadowing
I finished reviewing my HSK 2 grammar notes and reviewed around half of my HSK level 3 notes. I then did a chapter from my conversation book which my Chinese teacher bought for me in China. (I’m studying the orange one, which is the 2nd book in the series.) I studied the chapter about health and going to see a doctor. The sentence structure with “ba + object”, which I struggle to understand appeared in this chapter and I still don’t get it. I’ll have to ask my teacher to explain it when I see her.
Total study time: 1 hour – 30 minutes review and 30 minutes conversation book. No listening again today!
